F Family {Chicago Area Children’s & Family Photographer}

Posted on July 11, 2010

Would you believe that I grew up with this fabulous mom?  In fact, I have some very embarrassing pictures of us in pink formal gowns…  In all seriousness I was so excited when she contacted me to do photos for her and her family.  These adorable young ladies sure made me work for it, but you have got to love the end result!  Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your evening!  I hope you enjoy the sneak peek from your session!

Cousins {Chicago Children’s & Family Photographer}

Posted on July 7, 2010

I had the opportunity to take pictures of these two families yesterday at a very gorgeous location.  All the boys were so cooperative given the heat and high temperatures!  Of course, I do have a few tricks up my sleeve, and so did their parents!

I cannot thank this family enough for allowing me the opportunity to make Grandma happy!  I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

Money {Chicago Area Children’s Photographer}

Posted on July 6, 2010

Can you believe another week has already gone by!  It is time for week 7 of the 52 week photo challenge…  Money.  So many ideas came to mind when I thought of money…  but I decided to stick the the simplicity of things, a children’s piggy bank.  If I would have only known how much my children would love filling it with coins!  It has become quite the task in our house of searching out coins and filling their bank.  I am pretty sure my daughter thinks that once it is full she can afford a new American Girl Doll…  now, to just teach them the costs of things!

Water Play {Chicago Area Children’s Photographer}

Posted on June 26, 2010

It’s that time again, week 6 of 52 Challenge.  If you haven’t already guessed, this weeks is “water”.  I decided that Little Mr. A would be the ideal candidate for this weeks challenge, as sitting for portrait style shots, is just not quite his thing right now…  what more would you expect from a 22 month old?

I swear my children are water babies!  Whether it be baths, pools, water slides, or in this case a local sprinkler park.  I gave my little man a little green bucket to use when we went…  I do not think it left his hands the ENTIRE afternoon!  He was so dedicated to trying to fill his bucket with water and bring it to the bigger kids who were building sand moats.

It was quite the afternoon, and one of the rare opportunities where I am allowed to get photos of my little man!  Here’s to summer, buckets, and water fun!

5 of 52 Challenge {Chicago Area Children’s Photographer}

Week 5 of 52 week challenge….  “Chairs”.  This rocking chair has been around since I was a little girl…  now it sits in my daughter’s room.  There is such a sentiment in handing down treasured items from one generation to the next.  Someday, I hope that my daughter will place this chair in her child’s room, much as I have done with her.

Sweets {Chicago Area Photographer}

Posted on June 14, 2010

Week 4 of the 52 week challenge is here… and what a better topic then “Sweets”!  Who doesn’t love sweets?  When I think sweets I instantly think of Sandy’s Baking Memories.  I have had the pleasure of receiving delectable sweets from Sandy’s Baking Memories for years!  I cannot begin to say enough about how delicious her custom cookies are!  Sandy of Sandy’s Baking Memories, has been catering to my events for years.  In fact, the picture posted below is what she created for my daughter’s 7th birthday party.  Whatever your event is, Sandy can match it.  And what is even better, the cookies taste as delicious as they look!  Thanks Sandy for making my daughter’s day perfect!

Books {Chicago Area Children’s Photographer}

Posted on June 11, 2010

Running a little behind schedule, I finally completed week three of my 52 week challenge.  The past week’s theme was “books”.  Like most topics, I instantly recall events with my children.  For this theme, I instantly thought of the joy my children express when we take a trip to the bookstore and select new books.  My daughter finished 1st grade just this week, and there are no words that even begin to describe her growth and love of learning demonstrated throughout this school year.  Reading to her brother is something that she use to struggle with, often having to stop and ask what several words were.  Now, she can sit and read an entire book to him, or for at least as long as he will sit!  There is no greater joy then watching this…  so today, I stepped back and became the observer to their interaction…

With all my love, I love watching the places you will go!

Wow… You Sell What Sized Portraits??? {Chicago Area Photographer}

Posted on June 2, 2010

So… you have just had your portraits done and now comes the task of figuring out where you want to put your precious pictures and what size you are going to order.  You think to yourself, 8×10′s are perfect… it will look great above the fireplace.  BUT…  your 8×10 arrives, you frame it, and proudly hang it in its rightful place…  something is off…  things just don’t look as you anticipated…  but, why?  Chances are, that 8×10 is just too small for your space, and is not receiving the attention is so greatly deserves!  So, what size should you order?   Wow…  those portraits seem HUGE!!!!  But are they really?

I recently came across a blog post by the very talented Amy Ro Photography that gave amazing examples of what wall portraits sizes actually look like in given spaces.  With her permission, I am linking it here for you!

I hope this helps you in your portrait decisions and making your WOW home displays!
